Ōtepoti Drag Directory is a project by the local drag artists, listing upcoming events and artist portfolios. This is a WIP prototype for the directory's website.

The design for this website started with the idea of large, ultra-condensed text over images of the artists performing under spotlights, creating the feel of an opulent magazine feature.

The large, bold text continued into the page content. I used an addon for Statamic to extract the dominant colour of images, colouring the text with the complimentary colour, then mixing it subtractively. I found that this approach strikes a great balance between beauty and legibility.

To contrast the condensed titles, I used a relatively wide geometric typeface for body text.
